SIS 2016 “1st Conference on Social Impact of Science”

On 26th of July, under the frame of SIS 2016 “1st Conference on Social Impact of Science”, it took place the symposium “Mainstreaming, Embedding, Integrating”: What difference does stakeholder engagement make on the impact of S&T research?”, a session sponsored by Dandelion Project through the moderation of Georgios Kolliarakis from University of Frankfurt member of Dandelion consortium.

The symposium was composed by the following panel of speakers: Marta Soler from the University of Barcelona, Sharon Smit from the University of Groningen, Vincenzo Pavone from the Consejo Superior Investigaciones Científicas and Francesc Guillén from the Direcció General d’Administració de Seguretat Departament d’Interior.

The symposium addressed the link between stakeholder participation in European research for public safety and security, the responsiveness of the research agenda, and the kind of impacts out of it.

The discussion among speakers and audience explored the potential and the requirements for a better diffusion and uptake of research results in practice, which would enhance their beneficial impact and minimise undesirable negative impacts. An issue fully supported by Dandelion project.
